Our Jurassic Bookfair roared!!

WOW!

You should see all the great books we have been able to add to our library collection because of the bookfair. Almost $2000 worth of fabulous new reads recommended by our students from the selection.

I think it's great that the kids get a chance to show me what they really like-and what they don't!!

A HUGE thankyou *to all the families who joined in our competitions especially those who created Jurassic creature to help with the decorating.
*to all the helpers who gave me a hand creating "o

ur very own Jurassic Park"

*to all the helpers on the day of the bookfair with a special mention to the Woolgoolga Lions Club for their delicious sausage sizzle and their generous donation to the school.

2009 Netball Gala Day

2009 Netball Gala Day on PhotoPeach

Year 6 survey

We have a group of Year 6 students who are involved in a DET sponsored project to develop a resource/resources to enhance the transition of students from Year 6 to Year 7. The first step in the project is to find out some of the things that concern/excite kids about going to high school.

Being a small school with a Year 6 of only 16 students they decided that this size cohort was not going to be big enough to gain any relevant data so they developed a simple online questionnaire and asked me to send it off to other schools for help. It will only take about 5 mins to complete.

The
Student Action Team will be analysing the results and then developing some form of action to make the transition an easier process. They would be only too happy to share the results with the schools that participate. The Student Action Team will be eagerly awaiting the results.
.
NB: The survey is completely anonymous.

Wonderful news for Sandy Beach!!

"Under the Australian government’s Building Education Revolution, subject to Ministerial agreement, we are being offered:
A new school library worth up to $1.6million
Three (3) new permanent classrooms worth up to $900K

This is great news because it means not only $2.5million of new buildings for our school but also opportunity for local businesses to be part of the building and fit out over the next 2 years.

It is also great news because our existing library becomes available for other purposes.

The addition of a new library and 3 permanent classrooms and the freeing up of the existing library space provides us with much more flexibility for teaching and learning in the 21st century". Ray Rincheval Newsletter No. 14 – Wednesday 12th May, 2009
