Would these book trailers help encourage you to read the books??
Book trailers are now a very important part of
advertising newly published books.
They are a multimedia production.
Our students are going to explore some of the features
that make them work or not.
They will have the opportunity to storyboard and create
their own book trailer
on a book that they really really enjoyed.
They will need to explore many elements including,
sound-sound effects, music, voice overs, images-photos,
their own drawings, diagrams...maps..charts...
visual effects- long shots, close ups, use of spotlight.....
Viewing, analysing, comparing and contrasting and
evaluating created book trailers is a great place to start.
(critical thinking at its finest!).
Here are a few book trailers that the students will look at this week.
Visit BOOK TRAILERS FOR ALL
for fantastic support resources.
Students are encouraged to become good readers.
What could you do to be a GOOD reader, that you don't do YET?
We are exploring all the things good readers do....
Good readers:
* borrow every
week
* read the
books they borrow
* find a safe
place at home for their library books
* remember
their library bag and books each week
* borrow books
from all the sections of the library
* read
regularly as part of their homework
* search
for great books
* use the
catalogue to find books they are interested in
* find more
interesting books by asking others for advice
* check what
NEW books have arrived in the library
* value
books as presents from their friends and family
What can you add to this list?
Stage One continue their learning about mini beasts in class and in the library.
Year one and two are enjoying studying many different mini beasts this term.
The students have located many great non-fiction books in our library
and enjoyed sharing what they discovered.
They complied their very own "bug book" to learn from as they
continue exploring the mini beast world.
Some of the students were keen to take many of the books they found back for
reading in their classrooms.
This week in library they are viewing three multi-modal online stories about caterpillars. Students will be taught how to navigate the websites to manage the different modes of delivery.

Woolworths Earn & Learn 2013
This year we
will be participating in the Woolworths Earn & Learn program again. Through this
program we will be able to get new educational resources for our school – and
all we need you to do is IF you shop for your groceries at Woolworths please accept the stickers and send them in with your children to their class teacher.
From Monday 8th April
to Sunday 9th June, we are collecting Woolworths Earn & Learn
Points. You will get one Woolworths Earn & Learn Point for every $10
spent (excluding liquor, tobacco and gift cards). Place the Woolworths Earn
& Learn Points onto a Woolworths Earn & Learn Points Sheet and when it’s
complete, the Points Sheet can be sent into school to your child's teacher.
Please invite any grandparents, friends, aunties to collect their stickers for you too (if they don't have primary students themselves.)
