"Pete the Cat is back and this time, he's rockin' and groovin' in his SCHOOL shoes. Pete discovers the library, the lunchroom, the playground, and lots of other cool places at school. And no matter where he goes, Pete never stops moving and grooving and singing his song . . . because it's all good."
Where is Pete going?? Read and find out!
They had fun singing to his song "I'm rocking in my school shoes" and discovered Pete was off to the library-just like they were!!

What a delightful surprise!!
Arriving back at school after 3 weeks L.S.L. I was greeted by an excited teacher: "Welcome Back!"
Mrs Reedy then bustled me towards her classroom and encouraged me to look at what had been done in the classroom to encourage her students to read more!!
Prior to leaving I had suggested that the teachers look at their classrooms and think about how inviting their reading areas currently were and consider improving them.
What an improvement there was!!
As you stand at the classroom door now the first thing you see is the sign "Reading Rocks!" To the right of the sign are two stands containing a wide variety of books.

New Challenge for the students who have already completed the 2012 PRC!!
The students who have already completed the 2012 PRC will be taking on a
new challenge-
To
celebrate the National Year of Reading, students are challenge
to create an eBooktrailer as a way of motivating others to
read something that they really enjoyed.
Book trailers are similar to movie trailers, in that they are
designed to build interest in a novel and to encourage people to read the book.
The main difference is that a movie trailer is based on clips from the film.
With a book trailer, the maker has to convert the written words into visual
images, text and audio. A book trailer conveys a sense of what the book is about
without giving anything away - and without really clearly defining what the
characters, location and objects look like, allowing readers to visualise what
they are reading about as they imagine it themselves.
Extended
deadline Wed 1 August See WeCreate website for further details
Further
enquiries wecreate@det.nsw.edu.au
Fantastic prizes from our sponsors will be awarded
at the ceremony at
the
Sydney Opera House in November.
Students can start by viewing other student created booktrailers and
deconstructing the features that are most effective.

Lots of lovely new books to read. on PhotoPeach
I wonder what we will add this year.
It is up to you to suggest what you would like to be added to your library.
Make sure you make plenty of recommendations.
There will be a box for each stage to add their suggestions.
I will read them ALL as this helps me to know what to select from our commission.
I will also draw 2 suggestions from each stage and the winners will win a $10 book voucher each to spend at the bookfair.
Providing students with a bookfair at school is a great way to provide an authentic learning and shopping experience. I can discover what books are exciting for your children to read and the book character parade and bookfair provide a great way to highlight and celebrate the joy of reading for all of our community!
