The process of creating a winning Jurassic creature.
First, we made a frame from chicken wire.
We tied it together with wire and string.
The spikes are seed planter punnets tied on with string.
Next, we used newspaper and flour glue to paper mache the whole body.
Finally, we painted our Ankylosaurus, glued on the eyes and the felt tongue.

2009 Jurassic Park Bookfair a huge success!!!
A big thank you to all the people young and old, who supported our Bookfair!
We sold enough books to receive over $2000 worth of new books for future reading. Students will be able to borrow many of these great books from the library over the coming terms and years. Just think how many more new books are now in our community inspiring and engaging our kids!!!

All Jurassic creatures are now available to be picked up from the library.
Anyone waiting on re-orders-they won’t be long as I was assured that they were sent from Sydney yesterday. They will be delivered to the students as soon as possible after we receive them.
Remember: Kids’ who read, succeed!

2009 Netball Gala Day
Year 6 survey
We have a group of Year 6 students who are involved in a DET sponsored project to develop a resource/resources to enhance the transition of students from Year 6 to Year 7. The first step in the project is to find out some of the things that concern/excite kids about going to high school.
Being a small school with a Year 6 of only 16 students they decided that this size cohort was not going to be big enough to gain any relevant data so they developed a simple online questionnaire and asked me to send it off to other schools for help. It will only take about 5 mins to complete.
The Student Action Team will be analysing the results and then developing some form of action to make the transition an easier process. They would be only too happy to share the results with the schools that participate. The Student Action Team will be eagerly awaiting the results.
NB: The survey is completely anonymous.

Wonderful news for Sandy Beach!!
A new school library worth up to $1.6million
Three (3) new permanent classrooms worth up to $900K
This is great news because it means not only $2.5million of new buildings for our school but also opportunity for local businesses to be part of the building and fit out over the next 2 years.
It is also great news because our existing library becomes available for other purposes.
The addition of a new library and 3 permanent classrooms and the freeing up of the existing library space provides us with much more flexibility for teaching and learning in the 21st century". Ray Rincheval Newsletter No. 14 – Wednesday 12th May, 2009
